Lunawood ThermoWood®
Lunawood ThermoWood® is a collection of thermally modified battens, decking, cladding, and paneling. Thermal modification enables the wood to resist natural hazards like rot and enhances stability. It replaces the need for harsh chemicals and instead uses a slow process of heating and cooling to strengthen the lumber.
Natural Benefits

Dimensionally Stable
Significantly improved dimensional stability. Lunawood retains its original shape better than untreated wood.

Low maintenance
Lunawood does not require surface treatment in any climate. When left untreated, it gradually develops a beautiful silver color.

For all climates
Proven to work well, even in the most challenging climates. Does not react to changes in humidity.

Healthy
Lunawood on decorative surfaces increases comfort and improves wellbeing. The physiological and psychological effects of wood on humans are undeniable.

Certified quality
Patented non-toxic production method for producing ThermoWood®. Continuous quality control audited by a third party to ensure a long life cycle.

Pleasant features
Delight to all of the senses: feel, appearance and scent are sophisticated yet natural.

Sustainable throughout
Certified Nordic raw material from nearby forests. Lunawood acts as a carbon storage and is 100% recyclable.

Pure material
Truly natural product with no chemicals. No harmful indoor air emissions or resin leakage, even at the highest temperatures.

Nordic
Designed and made in Finland. The Nordic approach extends to architecture and the way we do business.

Wood From Renewable Nortic Forests
Lunawood's raw material comes from well-managed, sustainable Nordic forests. PEFC-certified timber ensures that forests are managed in line with challenging environmental, social and economic requirements.
In Finland, only 75% of the annual growth of the trees is cut, and whenever one tree is cut, four new seedlings are planted. That means the forests are growing every year.

The Natural Graying of Lunawood
As Lunawood ThermoWood® ages, it gracefully changes color from brown to a beautiful silvery gray due to the influence of UV light. The beneficial properties in durability against decay remain intact.
On the other hand, the brown tone can be preserved with tinted or pigmented wood oil, wax, wood-protecting stain, varnish or paint, which contains a UV-filter. Maintenance can be done less compared to untreated wood, lasting possibly three times longer than usual before re-treating, depending on weather and UV exposure.
